Software Steps to Move A Channel in Microsoft Teams with Screenshots

Here is the step-by-step guide.

Step-1. Open the given link and download the Teams migrator.  Run it on your system.

Step-2. After that, move towards the ‘Set up’ section. And, configure ‘Office 365’ as both Source and Destination for copying channel(s) in Teams.

Step-3. Then, scroll down till you see the ‘Teams’ checkbox. Tick the same to allow the team workload to move to the team.

And, if you also like to migrate group workload then click on the ‘Groups’ checkbox.

[Note- When you click on the ‘Teams’ field, by default it creates Teams and public channels at the destination.]

Step-4.Next, in the ‘Source’ tab, type the Admin Email and Application ID correctly.

Next, hit the ‘Validate’ button to ascertain that the source permissions turn green.

Then, click on the ‘Next’ button to proceed further to copy a channel in Microsoft Teams.

Step-5. Now, navigate to the ‘Destination’ tab and enter the correct target ‘Admin Email’ and ‘Application ID’.

Then, press the ‘Validate’ button to confirm that desired permissions turn green.

After that, hit the ‘Next’ button to copy channels in Microsoft Teams.

Step-6. Now, in the next tab i.e ‘Resource’ tab, you will find three sections i.e. ‘Users’, ‘Teams’, ‘Groups’

First, go with the ‘Users’ section to define the source user(s). To do that choose any one option among these three: ‘Fetch User’, ‘Import User’, ‘Download Template’.

Step-7. After fetching all the source users you will see them on your screen like this.

Step-8. Now, you have to map the source and destination users.

After mapping, click on validate button to confirm that the verification of the necessary permissions turns green.

Step-9. Again go back to the ‘Resource’ tab for fetching the Teams. And, use any option from ‘fetch teams’, ‘import teams’, ‘download template’ to define teams.

Step-10. Then you have to do the mapping between the source and the destination Team to copy a channel in Microsoft Teams.

And, to do the above, press the ‘Create Team’ button. After that, type destination names.[Else the tool will automatically assign target names as per the source name]

Step-11. Then, click on the ‘validate’ button and make sure both source and destination permissions turn green. Cause only after that you will be able to copy channel(s) in Microsoft Teams.

Step-12. Now, click on the Start Migration button to carry on with the coying process in MS Teams.

Step-13. Impressively, the software allows you to perform a ‘Re-run Migration’. With the help of this, you can retry migrating failed items, re-run full migration, or migrate newly arrived items(with Delta migration).

[Note: If click on the  ‘Mark Teams Complete’ option then you won’t be able to carry out re-run migration. So, make sure not to click on the same button if you intend to perform a re-run migration]

Step-14. If you wish to copy the Groups workload as well then you can go to the ‘Groups’ section on the ‘Resource’ Tab. And, follow the below instructions.

Firstly, fetch Groups, then, provide the Destination Groups emails. And finally, Validate permissions.

After a successful verification, you will see the source and destination permission will turn green and will be able to copy the groups.

Step-15. Lastly, click on Start Migration to copy channels in Microsoft teams.
